  • Old Bahama Bay Resort & Marina is beautiful and extremely well maintained - a jewel. The staff members are jewels in their friendliness and service.
  • In 2008, the US property developer, Bobby Ginn, had construction underway for a projected $4.9 B mega resort and residential community, Ginn Sur Mer. Ginn had bought the entire W tip of the island including the old Jack Tar Resort which was renamed the Old Bahama Bay Resort and Marina at Ginn Sur Mer. The developer cut a huge canal system along the W edge of the cay starting just S of the existing canals and housing development. The new basin has its own entrance channel on the W coast.The canal was to be the "Venice of the Americas" with gondola service and a megayacht marina among other features that included golf courses designed by Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklus. He also raised the land above storm surge range.
  • By December 2011, Ginn Sur Mer was foreclosed on and the property belongs to 3 different entities. The Old Bahama Bay Resort & Marina was sold to a US company and continues in operation. The original housing area at the N end of the property abutting the resort and marina has had some beautiful homes built each with its on boat dock on a canal. The tees and greens of the golf course are still being maintained. Further development at a smaller scale is planned.
