Bahamas National Parks

There are 26 parks and protected areas covering 700,000 acres in the Bahamas National Park System. They are administered by the Bahamas National Trust.

Grand Bahama
  • Lucayan National Park; 242-353-4149. A 40-acre retreat with nature trails and boardwalks; Ben's Cave and Burial Mound Cave part of a large underwater cave system. Located 26 miles E of Freeport.
  • Peterson Cay National Park; 242-352-5438. Active coral reefs for snorkeling. Located 15 miles E of Freeport; there are no facilities.

  • BNT Rand Nature Center; 242-352-5438. A 100-acre retreat with indigenous and migratory birds and a native animal collection. Located on E Settler's Way, 2 miles E of downtown.
